"Morgestraich" in Basel

It's 2 AM! The alarm rings. I'm not surprised, not sleepy at all... I just waited for the hour to come, to get up and head to Basel which is 1 hr drive from where we live.
It's "Morgestraich"... There is no translation into English for that word, but its the first part of the Carnival of Basel. At 4 AM all the lights go out and many many lanterns enlight the city. They play drums and piccolo and walk through all the streets and alleys of the inner city of Basel.
It is a real "must see" thing - like many other things if you come to Basel.

Es ist 2:0 Uhr! Der Wecker geht los. Ich bin nicht überrascht, überhaupt nicht schläfrig... I habe nur auf diese Stunde gewartet, aufstehen und nach Basel düsen, welches 1 Autostunde von uns entfernt ist. Es ist "Morgestraich"... Dafür gibt es kein Wort um es zu übersetzten. Es ist der Beginn der Basler Fasnacht. Um 4:0 gehen alle Lichter in der Stadt aus und viele viele Laternen erhellen die Stadt. Es wird "Drummle & Pfyffe" gespielt und man läuft seinen Weg durch die Strassen und Gassen der Innenstadt. Das muss man einfach einmal im Leben gesehen haben, wenn man nach Basel kommt - wie viele andere Dinge auch.

Romantic Weekend in Munic {Germany}

My hubby surprised me with a wonderful romantic weekend in the gorgeous monastery-style hotel "San Gabriele" {www.hotel-sangabriele.de}. This hotel is built in the style of middleage, every room is unique. The staff wears monk-dresses and the background you can hear the monk-choir sing. Romantic candles are everywhere and a delicate fragrance fills the whole area...

Mein Schatz hat mich mit einem wunderbaren romantischen weekend überrascht, in dem grossartigen kloster-stil Hotel "San Gabriele" {www.hotel-sangabriele.de}. Das Hotel wurde im Mittelalterstiel erbaut, jedes Zimmer ist einzigartig. Das Personal trägt Mönchskutten und im Hintergrund hört man leise Mönchsmusik. Überall sind romantische Kerzen und ein zarter Duft verströmt sich überall...




Our bed was a real WATER-BED! I didn't want to get up in the morning. I tell you... it's like sleeping on clouds - was like heaven!!!

Unser Bett war ein WASSER-BETT! Ich wollte am Morgen gar nicht mehr aufstehen. Ich sage Euch... es ist als würde man auf Wolken schlafen - es war himmlisch!!!

On our way to Munic (Germany) we stopped by a very nice furniture store. I just had to take some pictures! Just loooove this style :-)

Auf unserem Weg nach München sind wir bei einem sehr hübschen Einrichtungshaus vorbeigekommen. Ich musste einfach paar Fotos schiessen. Ich liiiiebe diesen Stil :-)

Knitting Time

I love knitting - but is has to be a special time of the year and I have to be in a special mood. I think knitting is kind of relaxing, isn't it?

Ich liebe stricken - aber es muss irgendwie in einer bestimmten Zeit im Jahr sein und meine Stimmung muss stimmen. Ich finde, stricken ist irgendwie total entspannend, oder?





Since super long scarfes are totally "en vogue" this year, i decieded to do one of thouse. The special thing about this one is, that a man it is going to wear it... But so far my kitty is posing with it :-)

Da super lange Schals diese Saison total "en vogue" sind, habe ich mich entschlossen, so einer zu stricken. Das Besondere an diesem hier ist, dass er von einem Mann getragen wird... Aber, bis er ganz fertig ist, posiert schon mal unser Büsi damit ;-)
